Eggtastic Egg Friends: Omar, Drew, Tracy, Lisa
January 2024
A few Saturdays ago, we gathered at a table at the Toronto Reference Library and started jamming. Inspired by Omar’s Youtube Longener, we started thinking about daily annoyances. The conversation carried us from slow walkers on the sidewalk to the imagination of the community. The ability of this group to turn any small symptom into a profound optimistic rant is probably both a feature and a bug.
Our Problems
It was fun to just sit and freely talk about things that were bothering us in our day to day. We spent half the day just doing that, one topic freeflowing into another, like scratching a funny itch. Some things we talked about:
- We hate the game of prices and loyalty. Let me shop in peace.
- Slow walkers walk slowly
- Advertisements are everywhere
- Everything is a subscription service
- No social media but want to follow things, what happened to RSS?
- The transition to WFH to off of work
- The culture of async work: why do people send me a message that just says hello
- Forgetting my bag at the grocery store
- Reliable reviews. Everything has been acquired and is trying to sell me instagram dupes or real things.
- Group scheduling
- The quality of things decrease (with scale), can any good thing last?
- Whose imagination are we living in?
- Drivers are annoying and I want to tell them but I don’t want to honk
- Linkedin is bad
The ones we wanted to tackle
